Tina Pearson

Qualified counsellor and Psychotherapist

Hello, let me introduce myself. My Name is Tina Pearson and I'm a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, working with person centered approach.

I have been in the health care sector for around 15 years, working within physical health care in busy hospitals, as well as, in mental health, specifically in the secure units. Having this experience made me realise how important our physical and mental health are to enable us to fully function in our everyday lives.

I decided to follow on my career and qualify in counselling and psychotherapy after I started to look into my own mental health after suffering with a bereavement which led to a lot of guilt, anger and sadness. It has always amazed me how life can flip like a coin and how we are expected to process this in our busy lives that doesn't seem to stop for no one, whilst being able to continue to function and keep juggling each day. Therapy really helped me, not only to deal with the problem that I wanted to explore but it also gave me tools and allowed me to fully understand myself, different feelings and allowed me to move forward from past events that I hadn't even realised were stopping me. I gained control of my life and continue to work on myself to this day.

I work with person centered therapy, this is a form of talk therapy, in which the client leads each session, which allows the therapist to give the client cues to help find their own solutions to the problems. This therapy works on the basis that we all have the ability to self-heal and continue growing as people, given the right environment and core conditions to explore our own thoughts, feeing's and behaviours. Working with this approach allows me to help people dealing with a wide range of issues such as grief, bereavement, trauma, abuse, mental health conditions for example anxiety and depression, relationship problems and addiction. This approach works well for people that prefer a supportive and non-judgemental environment and that are motivated to explore their own feelings and find their own solutions.
